Baltimore, Md. - Freshman Will Shriver has been named to the 2004 All Mid-Atlantic Region Golf Team. The first-year starter out of Silver Spring, Md. earned regional recognition while helping Loyola claim a second straight MAAC Championship, guiding the 'Hounds to a No. 11 ranking in the final regional poll.
Shriver commenced his collegiate career in championship fashion, shooting a one-under par to claim medallist honors at the Colgate Invitational. He closed out the fall with another medallist performance, this time leading Loyola to a team title at the John MacDonald Classic.
Loyola won its spring opener, the Fort Lauderdale Spring Classic, and move up in the regional rankings. After starting the year at No. 25, the Greyhounds moved to 17 before advancing to No. 11, their final spot in the poll.
The Greyhounds won the MAAC Championship with T.J. Shuart winning the individual championship, and advanced to a second consecutive NCAA Regional Tournament. The 'Hounds played in the West Regional for the second straight year and placed 26th overall.
Next year, Loyola partners with Caves Valley Golf Club and hosts the 2005 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. More tournament information is available at the NCAA Website.
