COLUMBIA, Mo. -The Loyola University Maryland golf team tees off for the first round of the NCAA Regional Championships at the Club at Old Hawthorne at 10:40 a.m. ET, today.
Senior Brendan Lemp will look to lead the Greyhounds through their seventh-straight NCAA Regional Championship. A native of West Hartford, Conn., Lemp will be making his second career appearance at regionals, as he finished tied for 70th with an 18-over 231 (75-76-80) at the University of Georgia Golf Couse in the 2012 NCAA Athens Regional.
Junior Bart George will be competing in his third-straight NCAA Regional, as he finished tied for 68th with a 17-over 230 (74-78-78) as a freshman in Athens, Ga., and improved to a tie for 32nd at last year’s regional championships in Tallahassee, Fla. The Arnold, Md., native carded a 1-over 217 at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional with a 1-over 73, 1-over 73 and a 1-under 71 through the three rounds, respectively.
Sophomore Jimmy Dengler also competed in last year’s regional in Florida, finishing 75th with a 23-over 239 (77-81-81). This will mark the second-straight NCAA appearance for the Rumson, N.J., native.
The Greyhounds are coming off their seventh-straight conference tournament, as they won the Patriot League in their inaugural year in the league. The low five teams and the low individual not on a team at each of the six regional championships taking place Thursday through Saturday of this week will advance to the NCAA Championships. The finals will be conducted Friday, May 23 through Wednesday, May 28, at the Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
