BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland men's golf team learned Monday night that it will head to Tallahassee, Fla., to compete in the NCAA Regional hosted by Florida State at the Golden Eagle Golf & Country Club. The regional will run Thursday, May 16 through Saturday, May 18.

The Greyhounds will compete against 12 other teams at the event; top-seeded Washington, in addition to Georgia Tech, hosts Florida State, North Florida (Atlantic Sun Champions), Oklahoma, Wake Forest, NC State, Oregon, Oregon State, Iowa, South Florida (BIG EAST Champions) and San Diego.

The regional will be a 54-hole tournament where the low five teams and the low individual not on a team advancing to the finals will head to the Capital City Club, Crabapple Course in Atlanta, Ga., to compete for a national championship. The finals will be conducted Tuesday, May 28 through Sunday, June 2.

Despite trailing the conference leaders by 10-strokes entering the final round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, the Greyhounds shot a tournament-best 5-under 283 to win their sixth-consecutive league title on Sunday, April 28. With the one-stroke victory, Loyola claimed the league's automatic bid to the national tournament for the sixth year in a row.

The NCAA Championships appearance will be the sixth-straight for Loyola. Seniors Jason Burton, Will Handley, Jon Ross, junior Brendan Lemp and sophomore Bart George have all participated in the tournament throughout their careers.
