CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland sophomore Jimmy Dengler was named to the All-Patriot League Academic Golf Team, as announced by the league office Friday.
Dengler led the Greyhounds to the Patriot League Championship in their first year in the league, finishing tied with teammate Matt Oshrine for third place at Army’s West Point Golf Course, on Sunday, April 27. The native of Rumson, N.J., shot a 71, 68 and 76 through the three rounds, respectively, earning first-team All-Patriot League honors with a score of 5-over 215.
For the season, Dengler has played in 10 of Loyola’s 11 tournaments, shooting six rounds at par-or-under. He’s posted a 74.57 stroke average on the year and earned a runner-up finish at Army’s Stars and Stripes Invitational in October.
A business administration major with a concentration in accounting, Dengler carries a 3.40 grade-point average and was joined on the five-member all-academic team by Lehigh's Harley Abrams, Lafayette's Robert Dyer, Navy's Chris House and Bucknell's Schuyler Stitzer. House was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's golf.
The Greyhounds will learn what NCAA Regional Championship they will compete in on Monday, May 5. The selection show will air on the Golf Channel at 10 a.m.
