Men's Golf Looking For Repeat At Magnolia

April 25, 2007

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's golf team returns to Disney's Magnolia Golf Course for the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. The Greyhounds, who have won three of the last four MAAC titles, return to the site of their greatest triumph - a 1-2-3 finish en route to a 29-stroke victory in 2003. This year's championships begin on Friday at 8:20 a.m.

"We spend the entire season getting ready for this tournament," says Head Coach Tom Beidleman. "I think we're ready and I'm very much looking forward to competing this weekend."

The Greyhounds have won three tournaments this season and bring a Top-5 regional ranking into the postseason. The projected lineup will include senior captain Will Shriver, juniors Matt Bassler, Nick Brassill and Chris Derby, as well as sophomore Michael Mulieri.

Loyola, which enters as the No. 1 seed in this year's tournament, claimed the 2003 and 2005 MAAC Championships at Magnolia, with Jeff O'Brien taking medalist honors at the 2003 championship.

The winner of the MAAC Championship will also receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
