The Loyola University Maryland golf team begins the spring portion of its season on Monday with a trip to Goodyear, Ariz., to play in the Re-Bath Snowman Getaway. “This winter has been unseasonably warm, so we’ve been able to get outside and practice quite a bit,” head coach Chris Baloga said. “Because of that, we’re not going to this tournament to work out the kinks, we’re going out there to play.”
The 16-team tournament field includes hosts Washington State, as well as Bradley, British Columbia, Gonzaga, Loyola (Md.), Missouri State, UMKC, UNC Greensboro, North Dakota, St. Bonaventure, St. John’s, Seattle, South Dakota, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Utah State and Utah Valley. Individuals from Arizona State, UCLA and Wetsern Texas College will also compete.

At the season-opening Maryland Invitational, McCarthy led the way with a seventh-place finish at the event. He finished the fall with three under-par rounds and a 74.08 stroke average.
