Men's Golf In 14th Place After Day One At Daytona Beach College Classic

Daytona Beach, Fla. - Tommy Villani posted Loyola's best round of the day, shooting a second-round 78 at Victoria Hills Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Monday afternoon. The Greyhounds scored a 646 and sit in 14th place heading into Tuesday's final round of the Daytona Beach College Classic.

Villani also lead the `Hounds with his Day One score of 158 while freshman Chris Derby is at 161 with rounds of 81 and 83. Sophomore Will Shriver answered his first-round 83 with an 80 while David Atkinson is at 164 after his second-round 79.

Loyola was without the luxury of a drop score on Monday when freshman Nick Brassill withdrew. The Greyhounds did shoot 12 strokes better in their second round of the day and will be chasing tournament leader Florida Atlantic, which posted a 590 on Monday.

Elon, with a two-round total of 596, and Rollins, with a Day One score of 597, are second and third respectively. Tuesdays competition will conclude with 18 holes on the Par 72, 6,989 golf course.
