Golfers Conclude Fall Season At Wendy's Kiawah Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Freshman Keegan Boone finished the Wendy’s Kiawah Classic strong Tuesday to help the Loyola University Maryland golf team to a 21st-place finish with an aggregate score of 930.

Boone carded an even 71 through the final round to finish the 135-man field tied for 43rd overall at 15-over 228.

Classmate Jimmy Dengler led Loyola through the tournament with a 14-over 227, finishing tied for 39th overall, while sophomore Bart George was tied for 105th at 27-over 240.

Juniors Cameron Liebert and Brendan Lemp finished the tournament tied for 120th at 31-over 244.

South Carolina ran away with the team title, finishing the three rounds with a team score of 7-over 859. Winthrop was second at 27-over 879, while Jacksonville State was third at 33-over 885.

Individually, South Carolina’s Caleb Sturgeon and Will Starke swept the top-two spots, carding a 3-under 210 and 1-under 212, respectively. College of Charleston’s Zach Munroe and Jacksonville State’s Tomasz Anderson were third at 2-over 215.

The tournament marked the final fall competition for the Greyhounds. Loyola will begin the spring portion of its season in Phoenix, Ariz., on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 25 and 26 at the Snowman Getaway.
