Wall Tied For The Lead After Two Rounds At Old Corkscrew

ESTERO, Fla. - Freshman Jeremy Wall is in a three-way tie for first place and the Loyola University Maryland golf team is third overall following the first two rounds of Florida Gulf Coast’s Homewood Hilton Airport Invitational Monday at Old Corkscrew Golf Club.

Wall shot an even 72 through the first round and then knocked off two strokes on his second round, posting a 2-under 70, to finish the day tied with Florida State’s Josh Lee and Florida’s AJ Crouch at 2-under 142. 

Sophomore Matt Oshrine also sits in the top 10, finishing the two rounds tied for ninth at 3-over 147 after shooting a 2-over 74 and 1-over 73, respectively.

Freshman Bennett Wisner is third for the Greyhounds and tied for 23rd overall, carding 5-over 77 and 1-over 73 for a two-round score of 6-over 144.

Sophomore Connor Flach is tied for 39th with a two-round score of 10-over 154 (76, 78) and junior Jimmy Dengler is tied for 52nd at 15-over 159 (79, 80).

As a team, Loyola is third with a team score of 17-over 593, trailing only No. 1 Florida State (2-over 578) by 15 strokes and Florida (10-over 586) by seven. The Greyhounds hold a five-stroke lead over Florida Gulf Coast (22-over 598), while St. John’s and St. Mary’s (CA) are tied for fifth at 24-over 600.

Loyola will return to the course Tuesday morning for the third and final round.
