POWELLS POINT, N.C. - Junior Brendan Lemp led the Loyola University Maryland golf team through the ODU/OBX Collegiate Sunday through Tuesday, finishing the tournament tied for 31st with an aggregate score of 8-over 224.
As a team, the Greyhounds finished 15th overall with a score of 925.
Freshman Keegan Boone jumped five spots on the final day of the three-day tournament to finish tied for 56th overall at 15-over 231. Junior Andrew McGill was two strokes behind, finishing 59th with a score of 233.
Junior Jon Ross and senior Will Handley each shaved six strokes off their second-round scores with Ross finishing 73rd with a 237 and Handley being tied for 83rd at 241.
Georgia Southern’s Scott Wolfes claimed the individual title after winning a one-hole playoff against Weston Eklund of Radford. The duo finished the thre rounds at 9-under 207. Richmond’s Daniel Walker was third at 7-under 209.
Georgia Southern also won the team challenge with a 10-under 854. Richmond finished runner-up at 2-over 866, while Old Dominion was third with an aggregate score of 4-over 868.
Loyola will return to action for one final tournament this fall on Sunday, Oct. 28 through Tuesday, Oct. 30. The Greyhounds will travel to Kiawah, S.C., for the Wendy’s Kiawah Classic.
