HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team finished runner-up at its final fall tournament, the Mission Inn Fall Intercollegiate at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort, on Sunday.
Senior Jay Mulieri wrapped up the final round with his best score of the tournament, a 2-under 70, to move to fourth overall with an aggregate score of 5-over 221.
Junior Jon Ross was second for Loyola, finishing tied for eighth after shooting an 80 on the final round to finish with a 9-over 225.
Freshman Jack Whelan finished tied for 13th with a 228 after shooting 2-over 74 today, while senior Ryan McCarthy shot 3-over 75 to finish 20th overall with a 231. Junior Jason Burton wrapped up the Greyhounds competing, finishing tied for 40th with a 241. Burton carded a 4-over 76 through the final round.
Florida Gulf Coast won the team title with an 892, while Loyola edged St. John's out of second place by three strokes. They Greyhounds combined for a score of 901, while the hosts finished at 904.
The tournament marked the final fall tournament for Loyola. The Greyhounds will return to the course on February 27-28 for the Snowman Getaway in Goodyear, Ariz.
