Powells Point, N.C. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team finished in 11th place at the ODU/OBX Collegiate Invitational, shooting a 2-over 286 through the final round at Kilmarlic Golf Course. The Greyhounds combined for a three-round team score of 23-over 875.
Redshirt sophomore Fletcher Sokul was the team’s top scorer on the day, while senior Brendan Lemp ended up as Loyola’s top finisher throughout the tournament. Lemp carded a 1-over 72 through the final round to finish tied for 27th overall at 4-over 217. Sokul recorded his first under-par round for the season, shooting a 1-under 70 to finish tied for 67th overall with a 14-over 227.
Sophomore Keegan Boone was second for the Greyhounds, finishing two strokes behind Lemp and tied for 34th overall at 6-over 219.
Freshman Matt Oshrine concluded the tournament in a tie for 54th place after shooting an even 71 today. He had a three-round total of 10-over 223, while sophomore Jimmy Dengler ended up in a tie for 63rd at 13-over 226.
VCU was the tournament champion with a score of 9-under 843, outdistancing second-place Maryland by nine strokes. The Terrapins shot an even 852, while Hartford was second at 1-over 853.
Marshall’s Logan Lagodich took home medalist honors with a 6-under 207. VCU’s Rocky Khara and ODU’s Jamison Randall tied for second, also with a 6-under 207.
The Greyhounds will conclude the fall portion of their schedule on Monday, Nov. 4 and Tuesday, Nov. 5, when they head to Jacksonville, Fla., for the Eagle/Osprey Intercollegiate.
