POWELLS POINT, N.C. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team knocked 29 strokes off its first-round score of the ODU/OBX Collegiate Invitational Monday to record a season-best 4-under 280 at Kilmarlic Golf Course. The Greyhounds moved into 11th place overall, after beginning the day in a tie for 15th, and sit one stroke shy of ninth place.
Three Greyhounds shot under par throughout the day, with freshman Matt Oshrine having the most impressive turnaround. Oshrine shaved 12 strokes off of his score from yesterday, posting a 1-under 70 to move into a tie for 62nd, a 20-place improvement through the two rounds.
Sophomore Keegan Boone tied with six other competitors in posting the days best score, a 4-under 67, to slide into the top-10. Entering the final round, he's tied for eighth at 1-under 141.
Senior Brendan Lemp also shot under par through the second round, shooting 1-under 70, five strokes better than yesterday, to move into a tie for 25th place at 3-over 145.
Freshman Jimmy Dengler improved seven shots, carding a 2-over 73 today, to have a two-round score of 11-over 153, while redshirt sophomore Fletcher Sokul is tied for 80th at 15-over 157. Sokul carded a 6-over 77 today.
Marshall's Logan Lagodich continues to lead the individuals with a 6-under 136, while VCU's Rocky Khara and ODU's Jamison Randall are tied for second at 4-under 138.
Team wise, Hartford moved into first place with a two-round total of 1-under 567, while Elon is second at 1-over 569 and Marshall is third at 2-over 570.
Loyola will return to the course Tuesday morning for the final round of competition.
