Golf Team Sixth After Two Rounds In Santa Clara

San Jose, Calif. - The men's golf team stands sixth after the first two rounds of the Santa Clara University Invitational contested Monday at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, Calif. Senior Mike Mulieri is tied for 10th overall with the final round of the 36-hole event on tap for Tuesday morning.

Mulieri carded an even-par 71 for his first trip around the 6,701-yard, Par 71 layout and followed that with a 75 for his afternoon round. Brother Jay, a freshman, was next best for the Greyhounds with a 72-77-149 for a tie for 22nd overall. Sophomore Alex Redfearn was tied for 26th with a 78-75-153 showing. Mike O'Keefe and freshman Ryan McCarthy finished with 160 aggregates to tie for 42nd overall.

South Dakota State leads the nine-team field with a 566, 39 strokes better than the Greyhounds. Kansas State is just five shots back in second. The Wildcats' Mitchell Gregson leads the individual scoring with an 11-under par total, bettering his first-round 67 with a second-round 64. Geoff Mead (-5) and Trent Peterson (-4) from South Dakota State are second and third overall.

THe final round gets underway Tuesday morning in the final round for the Greyhounds until play resumes in the spring.
