Men's Golf Completes Play At Ironhorse Intercollegiate

TUSCOLO, IL - The Loyola men's golf shot a three-round total of 971 and placed 17th overall at the Ironhorse Intercollegiate in Tuscoloa, Ill. on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Jeff O'Brien led the Greyhounds with a two-day score 238 at the Ironhorse Golf Club.

Loyola opened the tournament with rounds of 310 and 318 on Monday. Junior David Atkinson shot a first-round 74, Loyola's best round of the tournament. The Greyhounds battled the weather and finished with a 343 on Tuesday. Western Illinois, which won the tournament, shot a 329 in its final round.

O'Brien registered scores of 77-78-83 while Atkinson finished with rounds of 74-85-87. Senior Scott Zielinski posted rounds of 80 on Monday and followed with an 87 on Tuesday to give him a 247 for the tournament.

Also scoring for Loyola, junior Paul Kouch shot a 79 in his first round and scores of 80-91 in his subsequent rounds. Classmate Mike Foley finished with scores of 86-80-86.

The Greyhounds wrap up their fall schedule with Temple's John McDonald Invitational at the Galloway National Golf Club in Atlantic City on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 27-28.
