ROCKVILLE, Md. - Matt Oshrine and Jimmy Dengler recorded top-10 finishes, and four Loyola University Maryland golfers were amongst the top 17 finishers as the Greyhounds finished second at the Terrapin Invitational at Woodmont Country Club.
The host University of Maryland edged Loyola by five strokes for the team title, and Loyola bettered third-place Elon University by 14 shots. The Terrapins combined for a 4-over par 868 in the three rounds, while the Greyhounds shot 9-over par 873.
Oshrine led Loyola individually, tying for third at 1-over 217, shooting a final round 71 (-1) Tuesday afternoon. He shot 2-under 70 in the rain Monday before slipping to a 76 in the second round that was split between the two days.
Dengler, who started the final round tied for 18th place, finished three shots back of Oshrine, tying for ninth with a 4-over par 220.
Jeremy Wall used a second round 3-under 69 as his low tournament score, finishing tied for 13th at 5-over 221, and Connor Flach was two shots back, tying for 17th. Bennett Wisner was the other Loyola player in the scoring, tying for 31st at 11-over 227.
Loyola wraps up its fall schedule with one more tournament this month. It will compete in the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate Oct. 27-28 in Fort Myers, Florida.
