ROCKVILLE, Md. - Matt Oshrine shot a 2-under-par 70 to tie for third, and Jimmy Dengler and Bennett Wisner each were a stroke back tied for fifth after the first round of play, helping the Loyola University Maryland men's golf team lead the Maryland Terrapin Invitational after 18 holes at the Woodmont Country Club Monday.
Play in the second round was suspended due to foggy conditions and will resume Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The third and final round will follow on the par-72 course.
The Greyhounds shot 1-under 287 as a team and had a three shot lead over the host University of Maryland entering the second round. The Terrapins' former Atlantic Coast Conference foe Boston College was third with 5-over 293.
Oshrine had four birdles and 12 pars in his first 18 to finish the round two shots back of the leader, George Mason University's Kyle Hart.
Dengler and Wisner also birdied four holes, and Wisner was the best player in the field during the first round on the course's four par-3 holes. He was 3-under on those layouts, while Dengler was 2-under on the par fives.
