Pittsburgh, Pa. - Senior captain Will Shriver led Loyola with a round of 71 at the Crowne Plaza Colonial in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Monday afternoon. The Greyhounds, who won last year's Crowne Plaza Colonial, lead the 11-team field by one stroke with 18 holes to play.
"We got off to a great start today, but unfortunately lost some focus down the stretch," says Loyola Head Coach Tom Beidleman. "Hopefully we learn from today's round and finish the tournament strong."
The Greyhounds have three individuals in the field's Top-10 with Shriver alone in third and sophomores Michael Mulieri and Blake Furgerson tied for eighth. Both Mulieri and Furgerson scored a 74 on Monday, while junior Matt Bassler posted a 76 and junior Chris Derby added a 79.
Loyola scored 295 as a team and hold a one stroke lead on Cincinnati and Niagara. St. Bonaventure is two strokes back at 297 while Chicago State rounds out the Top-5 with team round of 304.
The final 18 holes begin at 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday.
