Golfers One Shot Out Of First Place At Stars And Stripes Invite

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team sits one stroke shy of first place heading into the final round of Army’s Stars and Stripes Invitational at the West Point Golf Course.  

The Greyhounds led all 10 teams following the first round with an aggregate score of 3-under 273, but carded a 7-over 283 through the second round to enter the third, and final, round at 4-over 556.

Freshman Matt Oshrine leads three Greyhounds in the top six of the individual standings, sitting second at 2-under 136. Oshrine, carding a 3-under 66 and a 1-over 70, respectively, trails Army’s Marcus Plunkett (5-under 133) at the top of the leaderboard.

Sophomore Jimmy Dengler is second for Loyola and tied for third overall, shooting an even 138 through the two rounds with round scores of 4-under 65 and 4-over 73, respectively.

Sophomore Keegan Boone rounds out the top-six golfers heading into the final round with a 3-over 141. Boone shot a 3-over 72 through the first round and then an even 69 through the second.

Senior Brendan Lemp is tied for 16th overall at 7-over 145 and freshman Connor Flach is one stroke behind at 8-over 146, sitting tied for 20th.

The Greyhounds will return to the course for the final round Monday morning.
