FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team moved up one place after the final round of the Cobra PUMA Invitational Monday, finishing 10th overall with a team score of 885.
Sophomore Bart George was the Greyhounds’ top finisher, carding a 6-over 222 to finish tied for 35th overall. George shot a 5-over 77 through the third round.
Freshman Fletcher Sokul was second for Loyola, finishing the day with a 4-over 76 for an aggregate score of 7-over 223, placing him in an eight-way tie for 39th place.
Sophomore transfer Brian McCormick finished his first outing for the Greyhounds in a tie for 47th place. McCormick shot an 82 today to finish with a three-round total of 8-over 224.
Junior Brendan Lemp was two strokes behind, improving his round score to a 3-under 69 today to finish tied for 53rd at 10-over 226, while senior Cameron Liebert finished tied for 63rd. Liebert shot an even 72 through the final round to record a 13-over 229 for the tournament.
Florida Golf Coast, the tournament hosts, won the team title with a 27-under 837. Penn State was second at 8-under 856 and Bethune-Cookman was third at 7-under 857.
Individually, FGCU’s Edward Figueroa was atop the leaderboard with a 16-under 200. Marshall’s Nathan Kerns and Bethune-Cookman’s Ryan Fricker tied for second with an 11-under 205.
Loyola will return to the course on Sunday, Oct. 21 when it heads to Outer Banks, N.C., for the three-day ODU/OBX Intercollegiate.
