SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Loyola University Maryland golf freshman Brendan Peel carded another 1-under 70 through the second round of the Fighting Irish Golf Classic, played today at the Lost Dunes Golf Club in Michigan, to move into a tie for third place overall.
Peel, one of seven golfers to finish the round under par, moved up three spots and enters the third round at 2-under 140.
After shooting a 4-over 75 today, sophomore Matt Oshrine also remains in the top-10, as he’s tied for fifth at 1-over 143.
Senior Bart George had the biggest improvement on the day, shaving seven strokes off his first-round score to finish with a 5-over 76. He ranks 48th with a two-round total of 17-over 159.
Sophomore Connor Flach, competing as an individual, shot a 1-over 72 today and is in a tie for 31st at 9-over 151.
Michigan State improved two spots to take over the team leaderboard with a 4-over 572 and Long Beach State stayed in second at 11-over 579. Davidson College holds a slight advantage over a tight team race, at 17-over 585, as Ball State is at 18-over 586, Notre Dame is at 19-over 587, Loyola is at 20-over 588 and Lamar is at 21-over 589. Florida Gulf Coast wraps up the team’s competing at 24-over 592.
Individually, Cory Sciupider (Notre Dame) and McCormick Clouser (Ball State) are tied for first at 4-under 138 and Peel is tied with Michigan State’s Charlie Netzel for third at 2-under 140.
Loyola will return to the Warren Golf Course, where the Greyhounds played the first round of the tournament, to conclude play tomorrow.
