The Loyola University Maryland men's golf team wrapped up a weekend of competition with a ninth-place finish at the Bucknell Invitational and a 10th-place finish at The McLaughlin Tournament.
The Greyhounds posted their best round of The McLaughlin as a team on Saturday, combining for an aggregate score of 286 to finish in 10th place.
Alex Redfearn (Boynton Beach, Fla./ Pope John Paul II) led Loyola with a 1-under 69 to tie for 15th overall. Redfearn followed two rounds of 73 and 69 for an aggregate score of 1-over 211 for the tournament.
Two Greyhounds finished in a tie for 44th. Jay Mulieri (Silver Spring, Md./Gonzaga College H.S.) carded a final round of a 1-over 71 and former high school teammate Ryan McCarthy (Silver Spring, Md./Gonzaga College H.S.) shot a 74 as both finished 8-over for the event.
Patrick McCormick (Weston, Fla./University School) tied Refearn for the best round of any Loyola player on Saturday, shooting a 1-under 69 en route to a 10-over for the tournament and a share of 54th place.
Jason Burton (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall College) improved his best round of The McLaughlin by three strokes with a 2-over 72 on the final 18 holes. Burton finished with an aggregate 224 to tie for 69th.
Loyola returns to action next Monday and Tuesday for the Hartford Hawks Invitational at the Bulls Bridge Golf Course in South Kent, Conn.
Andrew McGill (Needham, Mass./Needham H.S.) led the way for the Greyhounds at the Bucknell Invitational, tying for 16th with a three-round score of 224. His third round 71 was Loyola's low round of the tournament.
Brendan Lemp (West Hartford, Conn./Northwest Catholic H.S.) and Will Handley (Coral Springs, Fla./Pine Crest H.S.) rounded out Loyola's entry. They finished tied for 53rd and 65th, respectively, with scores of 234 and 244.
