Men's Golf Posts 295 On Day One At Towson Invitational

Sept. 18, 2006

Baltimore, Md. - Sophomore Michael Mulieri fired a one-under 71 at Musket Ridge Golf Club on Monday afternoon as Loyola posted a team score of 295 at the Towson Invitational. Mulieri was one of five Greyhounds to shoot in the 70's to get Loyola off to another good start.

Fresh off a team title in the season opener at Navy last weekend, the Greyhounds received solid production from all five scorers. Mulieri's 71 led the way while senior Will Shriver and junior Matt Bassler each posted a round of 74.

"I felt we didn't close as well as we needed to," says Loyola Head Coach Tom Beidleman. "We gave some shots away down the stretch, but overall, it was a good effort."

Sophomore Sean Curtin ended the day with a 76 and Nick Brassill rounded out the scoring with his 79.

Boston College leads the field with a first round team score of 282. St. Joseph's is second (289) with Long Island and Loyola third and fourth respectively. The Greyhounds have a projected tee time of 9 a.m. for Tuesday's final round.
