Golfers Third After First Round Of Marshall Invite

HUNTINGTON, W.V. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team is in a tie for third place following the opening round of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invite at the Guyan Golf and Country Club. The Greyhounds combined for a first-round score of 284 to finish the day tied for third with tournament hosts, Marshall.

Freshman Matt Oshrine and sophomore Jimmy Dengler led the Greyhounds, each shooting scores of 1-under 70, placing them in a six-way tie for 10th place. Freshman Connor Flach is one stroke behind, and tied for 16th, with an even par of 71.

Senior Brendan Lemp finished the day with a 2-over 73 and is tied for 27th, while junior Brian McCormick is tied for 68th at 6-over 77.

Cincinnati’s Baxter Reeves led the field of 88 with a 4-under 67. Reeves’ first round score has propelled the Bearcats to first place, as they combined to shoot a 5-under 279. Alex Hicks’s first round score of 3-under 68 has led William & Mary to second place with a combined team score of 280.

Loyola will remain on the course this afternoon for the second round.
