SUNRIVER, OR - Will Shriver fired a second round score of 74 to guide the Greyhounds in to 26th place as Loyola shot a team total of 315 on Day Two of the NCAA West Regionals, which is being held on the Sunriver Resort's par-72, 7,597-yard Crosswater Club course.
After finishing Day One at 28-over par and in last place, Loyola managed to overtake Wright State, which shot plus-33 on Friday, and jump in to 26th place. The Greyhounds have a two-day team total of plus-55, 631.
Shriver followed up his opening round 77 with a 74 on Friday to finish at plus-five after two rounds of play and in a tie for 73rd place overall.
Senior Jeff O'Brien is the next Greyhound on the leaderboard as he opened the tournament with a 74, but was burned by an extremely challenging layout and shot an 83 in Round Two to fall to plus-13 on the tournament and in to a tie for 116th-place.
2004 MAAC Champion T.J. Shuart has a two-day total of 159 after shooting 80-79 while Scott Zielinski is at plus-21 (85-80) and David Atkinson (85-82) is at plus-23 heading in to third round action on Saturday.
New Mexico leads the field with a minus-six, 570 while New Mexico's Charlie Beljan leads the individual field with a four-under two day total of 140.
The top 10 teams after Saturday's final round will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be hosted by Virginia Tech and held at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA. Loyola will enter Round Three 48 strokes behind 10th-place San Diego State as the Aztecs have a 583 after two rounds of play.
The Greyhounds continue third round action on Saturday as all five Loyola participants will be teeing off around 1:30 p.m. PT.
