TUCSON, Ariz. - Patrick McCormick and Jonathan Ross both shot 1-under par rounds of 70, and the Loyola University Maryland men's golf team had its best round of the NCAA Southwest Regoinal at the Omni Tucson National Resort on Saturday.
The Greyhounds posted a final round score of 295 to finish 14th at the Regional. Loyola advanced to the NCAA Regional for the fourth-straight season after winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship.
McCormick opened with three-straight birdies, as the Greyhounds started their rounds on the back nine at Tucson National. A double bogey at 14 and a bogey on 15 put McCormick at even par when making the turn to the front nine, but he rallied from that point.
He carded a double bogey on the second hole, but he then strung together birdies on three of four holes to complete an under-par round. The junior finished in a tie for 42nd.
Ross had pars on 15 of 18 holes while birdying the 15th and third holes. His 70 helped him tie for 61st at the tournament.
Jason Burton posted his low round of the Regional, carding birdies on three of his last five holes to shoot 3-over 74 on Saturday for a 70th-place finish.
