ATHENS, Ga. - Loyola University Maryland senior Ryan McCarthy fired a 1-under par 70 in the second round of the NCAA Athens Regional to help the Greyhounds combine to shoot a 300 and remain in 13th place.
Loyola shot one-stroke better than its first round total of 301, giving the squad a two-round score of 33-over par 601. The Greyhounds are 14-strokes behind 12th-place Texas Arlington. Alabama leads the regional at 23-under par 545.
McCarthy stands tied for 30th individually and leads Loyola with a two-round score of 3-over par 145. The senior birdied three of his first six holes to start the round and shot one-under on the front nine before shooting even on the back.
Freshman Bart George sot a 78 on the second day to round out the scoring, putting him third on the team with a total of 154 after two rounds.
The Greyhounds continue competition in the final round at the NCAA Athens Regional on Saturday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
