TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior Jon Ross carded an even 72 through the second round of the NCAA Golf Regional to lead the Loyola University Maryland golf team at the Golden Eagle Country Club on Friday.
Ross shaved four strokes off his first round score to move up eight places and sit tied for 52nd at 4-over 148 heading into the final round.
Sophomore Bart George heads the team following the two rounds, shooting a matching 1-over 73 today to sit tied for 39th at 2-over 146.
Freshman Keegan Boone also improved his score through the second round, knocking off two strokes, to finish at 2-over 75. He’s currently in 67th place with a two-round score of 8-over 152.
Sophomore Brian McCormick is tied for 71st with an aggregate score of 11-over 155 after shooting an 8-over 80 today, and freshman Jimmy Dengler is 74th with a 14-over 158. Dengler carded a 9-over 81 today.
North Florida’s MJ Maguire continues to lead the field with a two-round score of 11-under 133. Florida State’s Chase Seiffert and Washington’s Cheng-Tsung Pan are tied for second at 10-under 134.
As a team, the Greyhounds are 13th with a two-round total of 25-over 601. Three top-20 nationally ranked teams are atop the leaderboard, with No. 19 North Florida leading the way at 27-under 549. No. 6 Washington is second at 25-under 551 and No. 14 Florida State is third at 23-under 553.
Loyola will return to the course for the third and final round Saturday morning. Tee times are set for 9:10.
