McCarthy Leads Golf At NCAA Southeast Regional

SORRENTO, Fla. - Freshman Ryan McCarthy shot a 1-over par 72 to finish with a three-round total of 214, leading Loyola for the third day in a row at the NCAA Southeast Regional at RedTail Golf Club.

McCarthy finished 1-over for the tournament after posting rounds of 69-73-72 to finish in a tie for 40th place at the regional.

"Ryan had a tremendous tournament," Loyola Head Coach Tom Beidleman said. "He played very solid golf from start to finsh."

The Greyhounds finished in 14th place at the regional with a three-round 888 after shooting 302 for the second consecutive day. Central Florida, the host school, took the top team spot with a 34-under total of 818. Arizona, Georgia and South Carolina tied for second 11 strokes back.

"Obviously, we would have liked to have played better, more consistent golf, but it was a great experience for everyone," Beidleman said.

Two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion Michael Mulieri closed his Loyola career with a 76, finishing with a 12-over 225 for the tournament. Sophomore Alex Redfearn also carded an overall 225 and tied with Mulieri for 69th.

Junior Keith Hall shot 77 in the final round and was tied for 72nd with a 227, while freshman Jay Mulieri was two places behind with a 233.

Arizona's Tarquin MacManus was the individual medalist with a 15-under 206.
