Greyhounds Finish First Round Of NCAA Regionals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team shot 12-over-par 300 in the opening round of the 2015 NCAA Regional at UNC Finley Golf Course Thursday afternoon.

Patriot League Rookie of the Year Jeremy Wall and junior Jimmy Dengler led the Greyhounds through the opening round, as the pair carded a 2-over-par 74 and tied for 43rd with five other competitors.

Sophomores Matt Oshrine and Connor Flach are both tied for 59th at 4-over-par 76.

UNC - Charlotte leads the team competition after 18 holes, carding a 13-under-par 275. The University of Florida is currently second at 7-under-par 281, while No. 1 Florida State and Clemson University are tied for third at 4-under-par 284.

Individually, North Carolina's William Register, ranked 87th in the nation, leads the field with a 6-under-par 66. Clemson's Bill Kennerly holds sole-possession of second with a first-round score of 5-under-par 67, while six players are tied for third at 4-under-par 68: Fredrik Nilehn (Kennesaw State), Victor Wiggins (Charlotte), Seth Gandy (Charlotte), Raoul Menard (Charlotte), Ashton Van Horne (Belmont) and J.T. Poston (Western Carolina).

Loyola will return to action on Friday, teeing off on No. 10 starting at 9:50 a.m.
