Golf Heads To Final Round On Top At MAAC Champs

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Loyola University Maryland will enter Sunday's final round of the 2011 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships with a two-stroke lead over Siena.

The Greyhounds are in search of their fourth-straight MAAC title.

Loyola shot 296 on Saturday at Disney's par-72 Magnolia Course, a shot better than it fared in Friday's first round. The Greyhounds stand at 593 after two days, two shots better than the Saints' 595, and 11 better than Iona in third-place at 604.

Patrick McCormick led the way with a 1-under par 71, while Will Handley tallied a 1-over 73. McCormick entered the day tied for sixth after shooting 2-over 74 on Friday.

McCormick is second overall, one stroke behind Siena's Justin Deitz who leads with an even-par 144.

Ryan McCarthy carded a 75 on Saturday, and first-round leader Alex Redfearn checked in with a 77. Jonathan Ross finished the day with a 78.

Redfearn is tied for third overall, and Handley is tied for eighth. Ross is tied for 10th, and McCarthy is tied for 15th.
