LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Sophomore Brian McCormick and the Loyola University Maryland golf team remain in third place following the second round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships at Disney’s Palm Golf Course Saturday. The Greyhounds have carded a team score of 22-over 598 to trail the leaders – Fairfield and Iona – by 10 strokes.
McCormick and senior Jon Ross both shot a 2-over 74 today, with McCormick entering the third round tied for third with an even 144. Ross improved two spots and into a tie for eighth place with a two-round score of 4-over 148.
Freshman Jimmy Dengler had the best day for the Greyhounds, shaving three strokes off his score from yesterday and finishing at 1-over 73. He sits tied for 10th at 5-over 149.
Fairfield’s Steve Burak and Iona’s Dylan Newman share the lead among the individuals with matching scores of 4-under 140. McCormick is tied with Iona’s Doug Hoppe and Fairfield’s Richard Dowling for third with an even 144.
Among the teams, Fairfield and Iona are tied at first at 12-over 588, while the Greyhounds are third at 22-over 598. Canisius is fourth with a two-round score of 39-over 615.
Loyola will return to the course for the final round Sunday at 9:10 a.m.
