Orlando, Fla. - Senior captain Will Shriver fired an opening-round 68 to lead Loyola's effort at the 2007 MAAC Championships in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. on Friday afternoon. The Greyhounds, who scored a 300 on Day One, are four-strokes off the lead with 36 holes and two days left to play.
"I'm very pleased with the way Will [Shriver] played today," says Loyola Head Coach Tom Beidleman. "But we have to give him some help tomorrow."
The `Hounds are currently in third place, four shots back of Siena, and one stroke behind Rider. Junior Matt Bassler posted a round of 75, while junior Chris Derby (78) and sophomore Michael Mulieri (79) scored in the high 70's for Loyola.
Shriver's 68 is one stroke better than his previous low round of 69, which he has equaled four times in his college career, including at last year's MAAC Championships - also held at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course.
Loyola will tee off on Saturday morning beginning at 8:20 a.m.
