Men's Golf Posts Runner-Up Finish At Golden Fox Invitational

Farmington, Mich. - Junior Chris Derby posted a two-under par 70 as Loyola scored the low round of the day at Golden Fox Golf Club in Farmington, Mich. on Saturday afternoon. Derby led a strong Loyola charge as the Greyhounds closed the three-round tournament with a score of 886 and a runner-up finish.

The `Hounds came out firing on Saturday, scoring a round of 289 as a team. Derby's round of 70 was one of two Loyola round under par - the other shot by junior Michael Mulieri, who finished third overall with rounds of 72-73-71. Mulieri finished the tournament with an even-par 216.

Derby posted a 222 in the two-day tournament, while both Matt Bassler and Alex Redfearn finished with three-round scores of 225. Bassler ended the tournament with a round of 73 on Saturday.

Also scoring for the Greyhounds on Saturday was Keith Hall, who scored a 75 to close out the tournament. The Greyhounds finished eight strokes back of tournament host and champion Detroit Mercy. Cleveland State and Youngstown State rounded out the Top 5.

Loyola now sets its focus on the MAAC Championships, which begin next Friday, April 25 in Orlando, Fla. The conference championship tournament runs three days and the champion earns a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
