Golfers Sit Atop By 13 Strokes At Detroit Titans Invitational With Final Round Saturday

Plymouth, Mich. - All five of Loyola's golfers finished in the Top 15 after 36 holes on Friday at the Detroit Titans Invitational and the Greyhounds ended the day in first place, 13 strokes ahead of the nearest competitor, with a final 18 holes to play on Saturday at the par-72 Golden Fox Golf Course.

The Greyhounds, which earned runner-up honors at this tournament last year, sit atop the leader board with a 587, while the University of Dayton carded a 600 for second-place.

Loyola fired rounds of 295 and 292 for its most consistent showing of the spring season. Butler University (603) sits in third while St. Bonaventure and University of Detroit Mercy, the defending champions, are tied for fourth at 604.

Alex Redfearn (74-73) and Keith Hall (75-72) are tied for third place with cumulative rounds of 147 after the 36 holes.

Mike Mulieri, despite battling sickness, shot 77-71 and is just a stroke behind of the duo, good for seventh place. Ryan McCarthy also carded a 148 (72-76) and is tied with Mulieri. Jay Mulieri, with a 74-76 (150) stands in 15th place.

Chris Woeste of Dayton and David Byrne of University of Detroit Mercy lead the tournament, both firing 145.

Final round play begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning
