Mulieri Finishes Runner-Up At Wolfpack Spring Open

RALEIGH, N.C. - Loyola University Maryland senior golfer Jay Mulieri finished one stroke behind Lamar’s Luke Jerling to take second place at NC State’s Wolfpack Spring Open Sunday afternoon. Mulieri improved his score of 71 from yesterday to a 3-under 69 to finish at 4-under 140. Jerling won the title at 5-under 139.

In the team race, Loyola finished tied for sixth with Francis Marion at 24-over 600. NC State won the title with a 1-over 577, while Lamar was second at 5-over 581 and East Carolina was third at 9-over 585.

Seniors Ryan McCarthy and Patrick McCormick tied for 40th place at 9-over 153, with McCormick carding a 4-over 76 through the round and McCarthy finishing at 6-over 78.

Freshman Bart George finished tied for 53rd with an 11-over 155 after shooting a 6-over 78 today and sophomore Brendan Lemp rounded out the Greyhounds competing, tying for 57th at 12-over 156. Lemp shot an 80 through the round.

The competition marks Loyola’s final preparation for the 2012 MAAC Championships. The four-time defending MAAC Champions will head to Lake Buena Vista, Fla., for this year’s three-day conference tournament on Friday, April 27.
