AMHERST, Va. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team finished ninth at the Liberty Spring Invitational at Poplar Grove on Saturday.
Senior Bart George and freshman Bennett Wisner led the Greyhounds with a pair of 3-over 75s today, while sophomore Connor Flach and freshman Jeremy Wall hit 4-over 76 today. Sophomore Matt Oshrine carded a 6-over 78.
Oshrine led the Greyhounds throughout the tournament, finishing tied for 19th at 3-over 219 and Wall was two strokes behind and tied for tied for 24th with a 5-over 221.
Flach finished tied for 47th at 12-over 228, while Wisner was tied for 58th (14-over 230) and George was tied for 58th (15-over 231).
As a team, the Greyhounds shot 29-over 893. No. 10 Oklahoma finished atop the leaderboard at 17-under 847 and No. 19 North Carolina was second at 2-under 862. Liberty rounded out the top three with a 12-over 876.
Individually, there was a six-way tie for first place between Liberty's Mathieu Fenasse and Isaiah Logue, Oklahoma's Beau Titsworth, Grant Hirschman and Charlie Saxon and North Carolina's William Register. All six players pared the par-4, No. 1 hole, before Liberty's Fenasse was the lone player in the group to birdie the par-4, No. 2 hole, claiming individual medalist honors. All six players finished at 3-under 213.
The 2015 Patriot League Tournament is up next for the Greyhounds. Loyola will travel to Hamilton, New York for the two-day tournament, April 25-26.
