Golf Tied For Eighth Place After Day One At Navy Spring Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, MD - Loyola's golf team finds itself in a tie for eighth place and twelve off the lead after shooting a team score of plus-18, 302 during Day One of the Navy Spring Invitational, which is being held on the 6,671-yard, par-71 U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club's course.

The Greyhounds are tied with Bucknell while Towson is in the lead after the Tigers shot a plus-six team total of 290.

Greyhound Jeff O'Brien is leading the way for Head Coach Tom Beidleman's crew as he sits in a tie for ninth and five off the lead after his one-over, 72, on Saturday afternoon.

Loyola freshman Will Shriver is tied for 21st after firing a 74 as T.J. Shuart's first round 77 has him in a tie for 45th and Scott Zielinski's score of 78 has him in a tie for 59th at this highly competitive early Spring battle.

Navy's Billy Hurley is the individual leader after his Round One, four-under 67. Methodist and Binghamton are tied for second in the team standings with Johnson & Wales-Florida in fourth place, Navy and Villanova in a tie for fifth, and Columbia in seventh. Loyola is currently ahead of Rider, Princeton, Lehigh, George Washington and Penn among others in the 23-team field.
