TOWSON - Senior Jay Mulieri shot a 4-under 68 to move into second place overall after the second round of the Fireline Towson Invitational on Saturday, helping the Loyola University Maryland golf team move into 11th place overall with a team score of 24-over 600.
Mulieri shaved four strokes off his first round score and - after finishing 12th overall following yesterday’s first round - trails only leader Anthony DeGol of Penn State by one stroke. DeGol leads all competitors with a 5-under 139, while Mulieri is second at 4-under 140 and Navy’s Peter Reilly is third at 3-under 141.
Senior Patrick McCormick is second for the Greyhounds, sitting tied for 36th at a 6-over 150, carding a 75 through today’s round.
Sophomore Brendan Lemp improved his round score by six strokes today to 3-over 75 to sit tied for 86th overall with senior Ryan McCarthy. The duo has shot a 12-over 156 heading into the final round. McCarthy carded a 78 through the second round.
Sophomore Cameron Liebert shot a 79 through both rounds to currently sit tied for 99 overall at 14-over 158.
Freshman Bart George, competing unattached in the tournament, is tied for 58th at 8-over 152.
Loyola will return to the course tomorrow for the final round of the invitational.
