KINGSMILL, Va. - Sophomore Bart George led the Loyola University Maryland golf team to a ninth-place finish at the shortened C&F Bank Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at Kingsmill Resort-River Course. The Greyhounds began the first of the three rounds on Sunday before weather halted play and forced the tournament to be shortened to one round.
Of the 32 teams competing, Loyola finished ninth with a team score of 14-over 294. George led the way, finishing in a tie for fifth at 1-under 69.
Junior Jon Ross and sophomore Brian McCormick both carded a 6-over 76 to finish tied for 79th.
Eastern Michigan’s Casey Olsen and Notre Dame’s Cory Sciupider were atop the individual leaderboard, shooting a 3-under 67 through the 18 holes.
No. 27 Tennessee upset No. 16 Florida State for the team title, as the Volunteers combined for a 5-over 285. The Seminoles finished tied with Michigan for second place, with both squads shooting 7-over 287.
Loyola will be back in action on Sunday, March 31 when it heads to Grasonville, Md., for the three-day Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational.
