WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Loyola University Maryland men’s golf team rounded out day three of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort-River Course with a 13-over 293. The Greyhounds finished the tournament in ninth out of 27 teams with a 45-over 885.
Freshman Matt Oshrine continued his tremendous play with a top-10 finish after carding a 3-over 73 for the round. His tournament score of 4-over 214 tied for eighth among the 141 competitors.
Junior Bart George capped his tournament with an even round of 70 on day three. George finished tied for 50th with a 14-over 224. Freshman teammate Connor Flach finished one stroke behind for the tournament with a 15-over 225, placing him tied for 54th overall. Flach shot a 4-over 74 in round three.
Sophomore Jimmy Dengler finished tied for 83rd with a 20-over 230 in the three-day event. Dengler shot a 6-over 76 in the final round of the tournament. Senior Brendan Lemp concluded the tournament with a 10-over 80 on the final day, bringing his total score to a 21-over 231, tying him for 91st.
The Red Raiders of Texas Tech ran away with first place, besting second place UNCG by 13 strokes and finishing with a three-round 11-over 851. UNCG finished second with a three-round score of 24-over 864 and Radford finished third, one stroke behind UNCG, with a 25-over 865. Rounding out the top five was James Madison with a 32-over 872, and Miami (OH) with a 35-over 875.
Texas Tech’s Clement Sordet won the individual tournament title finishing with a 2-under 208, while teammate Matias Dominguez finished tied for second and one stroke back of Sordet with a 1-under 209. UNCG’s Roy Dixon tied for second with a 1-under 209, which included a tournament-best, third-round score of 5-under 65.
The Greyhounds will compete next at the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C. The two-day tournament will begin Friday, April 11.
