WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Senior Jay Mulieri led the Loyola University Maryland golf team on the opening day of the C&F Bank Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort River Course, shooting an even 71 through the first round on Sunday. Mulieri finished the day tied for 14th, while the Greyhounds are tied for 11th overall at 9-over 293.
Junior Brendan Lemp carded a 1-over 72 throughout the first round, while senior Ryan McCarthy, junior Jon Ross and sophomore Cameron Liebert all shot a 4-over 75. Lemp currently sits tied for 22nd overall, while McCarthy, Ross and Liebert are tied for 64th.
Missouri leads the team competition with a 2-under 282, while UNC-Greensboro is second at an even 284 and Appalachian State is third at 1-over 285.
Individually, Missouri's Emilio Cuartero and Jace Long lead the competition with a 5-under 66 and 4-under 67, respectively. Cody Fixari (Wright State) and Tom Wilde (Old Dominion) are tied for third at 3-under 68.
Loyola will return to the course tomorrow for the second round of competition.
