ORLANDO, Fla. - Sophomore Brendan Lemp shot his first collegiate under par round at Central Florida’s Rio Pinar Invitational Tuesday afternoon to lead the Loyola University Maryland golf team. Lemp finished the day with a team-best 3-under 69, while the Greyhounds shot an even 288 to move up three places and finish eighth overall at 19-over 883.
Senior Jay Mulieri led the Greyhounds throughout the two-day invitational, finishing tied for 17th overall at 1-under 215. He carded an even 72 on the final round.
Lemp improved his scores of 75 and 76, respectively, from yesterday to finish second on the team with a 4-over 220. His performance today moved him up 28 places and into a tie for 28th overall.
Senior Patrick McCormick shot a 1-over 73 through the final round to finish at 7-over 223 and in 41st-place overall, while senior Ryan McCarthy concluded the invitational in a tie for 50th place. McCarthy shot a 2-over 74 through the third round to finish at 9-over 225.
Junior Jon Ross was the final Greyhound competing, finishing the final round with a 77. Ross finished tied for 71st overall at 232.
Loyola will return to action on Sunday when it heads to Kingsmill, Va., to compete in the C&F Bank Intercollegiate.
