PINEHURST, N.C. - The Loyola University Maryland men’s golf team concluded play at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on the Pinehurst No. 8 course Tuesday afternoon with an 8-over low-round score of 292. The Greyhounds finished with their best round of the tournament and held on to their third place finish with a three-round score of 54-over 902 to mark their fifth top-five finish in seven events this season.
Freshman Matt Oshrine tied for the best round of the day with a 1-under 70, allowing him to move into a tie for fourth after starting the day tied for 17th. He finished with three-round score of 11-over 223, while junior Bart George carded a 3-over 74 in the final round of play, pushing him into a tie for 10th overall and total score of 14-over 226.
Sophomore Jimmy Dengler shot a 2-over 73, while classmate Fletcher Sokul carded a 4-over 75 on the final day. The second-year duo finished the tournament tied for 13th and 21st, respectively, with scores of 15-over 227 and 19-over 231, respectively.
Senior Brendan Lemp finished with a 6-over 77 on the day and tied for 25th overall with a three-day score of 21-over 233.
UNCG took home the team title after totaling a three day score of 45-over 893. Belmont was second at 51-over 899 and Eastern Kentucky trailed the Greyhounds by 11 strokes, finishing fourth with a 65-over 913.
Richmond’s Danny Pizetoski tied for the low-round of the day with a 1-under 70 and also finished as the individual winner of the tournament with a 4-over 215. Eastern Kentucky’s Patric Sundlof finished second with a 7-over 218, while UNCG’s Roy Dixon finished third with a 10-over 221.
The Greyhounds will return to action Sunday, March 23 for a three-day tournament at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va.
