Philadelphia, Miss. - The Loyola men's golf team posted a 302 in Sunday's opening round of the Pizza Hut Invitational in Philadelphia, Miss. The Greyhounds, behind a pair of 74s from their sophomore standouts, are four strokes off the pace with 18 holes left to play.
Sophomores Michael Mulieri and Blake Furgerson each registered an opening round of 74 at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club to pace the `Hounds. Junior Matt Bassler scored a 75 while junior Chris Derby added a 79 for Loyola's scoring.
Senior Will Shriver, who led Loyola to a team title at Pala Mesa on February 13, opened the Pizza Hut Invitational with an 80. The Greyhounds trail Murray State heading into Monday's final round. The Races lead the field with a Day One score of 298.
