Dec. 6, 2011

BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland junior forward Erik Etherly and his one-handed dunk at UMBC has been named a finalist for the Video Play of the Week.

Etherly had three dunks in the game, during which he scored a career-high 27 points, but one in the first half was particularly strong as he flashed down the left side of the lane and dunked over a Retrievers' player.

This season, Etherly has helped the Greyhounds to a 6-1 start, their best since joining NCAA Division I in 1981-82. He is second on the team with 14.9 points per game, and the Alexandria, Va., native leads the side with 7.9 rebounds.
