Baltimore, Md. - After a season-opening loss to UMBC, the Greyhounds have no time to lick their wounds. Loyola's men's basketball team will be back at the Towson Center to play in the Battle of Baltimore Consolation Game on Saturday. The Greyhounds face Coppin State at 5:30 p.m.
The last time these two squads met was also in a Battle of Baltimore consolation. That game went two overtimes before Coppin edged out the 'Hounds 76-68. The Eagles lead the all-time series 3-1 but enter with a 1-3 record this season.
Loyola started slow with three sophomores and two freshmen in the starting lineup against UMBC. The Greyhounds rebounded from a cold-shooting first half and went toe-to-toe with the Retrievers. A 21-point halftime deficit, however, proved to be too much in the 72-50 loss.
Loyola and Coppin State tip at 5:30 p.m. with the Battle of Baltimore Championship Game (UMBC vs. Towson) tipping at 8 p.m.
