BALTIMORE, Md. - Senior guard Andre Collins of the Greyhound men's basketball team has been honored as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Co-Player of the Week, it has been announced by conference officials.
He shared the honor with Niagara sophomore guard Charron Fisher.
Making his Loyola debut, Collins led the Greyhounds to an 80-67 victory over Towson on Saturday night. He scored a team-high 22 points and connected on 7 of 18 shots from the floor, including 5 of 14 from beyond the arc. Collins tallied 12 of the Greyhounds' first 20 points by scoring on his first four three-point field goal attempts.
Collins also added three assists and a pair of steals in 38 minutes of action as Loyola beat Towson for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.
The Greyhounds open the home portion of their 2005-2006 schedule on Sunday evening when they host the University of Maryland - Baltimore County in Reitz Arena at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 410-617-2547.
