Men's Basketball Picked Ninth In Preseason Coaches' Poll

New York, N.Y. - The Loyola College men's basketball team has been picked to finish ninth in the 2005-06 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Greyhounds, who picked up 30 points in the poll, finished ninth in the conference last season with five league wins under first-year coach Jimmy Patsos.

Iona, with five first-place votes, was picked to win the league with 94 poll points, while Manhattan (93 pts) and Canisius (74 pts) garnered first-place votes to finish second and third respectively in the poll. Last season's tournament champion, Niagara, was picked seventh with 45 total poll points.

Saint Peter's Keydren Clark, the NCAA scoring champion the past two seasons, was named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year.

Loyola will close out its exhibition season this Friday at home and opens the regular season at Charles Street foe Towson on Saturday, November 19.
