Brown Tapped For Mid-Major All-America Recognition

Oct. 31, 2007

Baltimore, Md. - Senior guard Gerald Brown today was named to the Preseason Mid-Major All-America team by collegeinsider.com. It is the second preseason acknowledgment for the Baltimore native after being named an honorable mention Mid-Major All-America by collegehoops.net earlier this month.

Rather than select individuals and group them into quintets, collegeinsider.com recognizes 25 players as a group. Of the 25, 21 are seniors and just one -- Drexel center Frank Elegar -- appears on Loyola's schedule. Rider senior center and MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Jason Thompson was tabbed for the 21-man national All-America team along with Kansas junior guard Brandon Rush.

Brown was named to collegeinsider.com's 2006-07 Mid-Major All-America team following his junior season in which he finished eighth nationally in scoring with 22.2 points per game, a total that led the MAAC. That same entity selected him as the conference's Most Valuable Player.

The Greyhounds get the 2007-08 season underway Friday evening when they host Villa Julie in an exhibition at Reitz Arena beginning at 7 o'clock. The regular season begins November 9 when Loyola visits Towson and the home opener is November 11 when the Greyhounds host Pennsylvania at noon.
